Needs Assessment Survey shows high satisfaction with Rolling Meadows Park District parks, programming and future planning

Rolling Meadows Park District has released the results of its 2026 Needs Assessment Survey, providing valuable insight into resident experiences, priorities, and overall satisfaction with Park District programs, parks, and facilities.   

The findings reflect strong community support, high levels of engagement, and widespread appreciation for the District’s role in maintaining excellent parks and greenspace.

The survey gathered feedback from residents who actively use Park District amenities, with nearly all respondents reporting visits to District parks or facilities within the past two years. Overall results demonstrate consistently positive feedback across programs, services, and outdoor spaces.

“Rolling Meadows Park District has worked hard to prioritize patrons’ needs and interests over the past few years and that has meant updating outdated playgrounds and adding new amenities,” said Executive Director Nick Troy. “These survey results validate that we are on the right track   while there are still some areas we can address.”

In the past year, Rolling Meadows Park District has added a new Preschool Playground outside the Community Center and transformed Community Center Park into a multigenerational hub featuring dedicated pickleball courts, a Ninja-Warrior-style Challenge Course, Fitness Court, miniature golf, baggo and ladder ball. Most recently, the District debuted two new TrackMan Golf Simulators at West Meadows Ice Arena. 

One area of improvement was facility conditions, with some respondents expressing a desire for the District to upgrade aging indoor spaces. A renovation project is underway at Nelson Sports Complex that includes new flooring, fresh paint, an updated Fitness Center, improved concessions area and refreshed exterior features. 

Key Highlights from the Survey Include:

• Strong overall satisfaction with Park District offerings, including programs, events, and park amenities—77% of respondents rated programs as satisfactory or extremely satisfactory.
• Staff identified as a major strength, with respondents frequently citing friendly, helpful staff.
• Parks praised as essential community spaces, supporting daily recreation, wellness, and neighborhood connections—82% of respondents rated park conditions as satisfactory or better.
• High usage of District facilities, reflecting their importance, with resident interest in continued modernization.
• Constructive input on future priorities, including facility improvements, affordability, expanded amenities, and programming for all ages.
  
  Rolling Meadows Park District thanks all residents who took the time to participate in the survey. Input from the community will be used to help guide strategic planning, capital planning discussions, and service enhancements as the District continues to evolve and respond to changing resident needs.
